Aniruddha Jena is an academic working at the intersection of community and alternative media, communication for development and social change, and critical media studies. He holds a PhD in Communication from the University of Hyderabad, where his doctoral research examined community radio as a cultural and political practice through an ethnographic study of community radio initiatives in the eastern Indian state of Odisha.

He is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Prior to this, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur, Uttarakhand. In addition to his primary academic appointment, he serves as Co-Vice Chair of the Participatory Communication Research Section of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). He is currently a Charles Wallace India Trust Fellow at King’s College London (2025–26). His academic and professional engagements span teaching, research, and knowledge mobilization across national and international contexts.
